Through my art, I always seek to pay homage, inspire and tell stories. With this in mind, I drew a realistic portrait to pay tribute to MIKABEN, real name Michael Benjamin, after his tragic death on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

My initial goal was to offer him this portrait for his immense talent and impact on Haitian music. Unfortunately, fate did not allow him to see this work. Today, I would like to present this portrait to his family as a symbolic gesture, to show my respect and admiration.

Originally from Carrefour Feuilles, I always wanted to use my art to go beyond drawing. I have made my passion a way to help young talent grow, and I train them so they can in turn take art further. This project is particularly close to my heart, and I dream of seeing a new generation of artists emerge thanks to my support and that of others who share this vision.

For me, this work is more than a drawing: it’s a message of gratitude and love for those who mark our lives. I will continue to put my art at the service of memory, inspiration and transmission.

This portrait in tribute to Mikaben touched many people and media, notably through an article published by Juno7, which highlighted the painstaking work I’ve done and my commitment to art. If you’d like to read more, please click here.
